To ensure clear and efficient communication, all questions or concerns should be directed to support@forestwoodskatingclub.com. This allows our team to stay focused on providing the best experience for our skaters.

How does this event work?

FORMAT: The designated skater from each team will perform their element in sequence on full ice with no music and will follow this format:
1. Minimum of three to four skaters on a team; each skater will do at least one required element
2. Teams will be directed to find a “base” for their team along the boards on the ice where they place their poster, and will stay for the remainder of the event
3. The announcer, referee or judge-in-charge will call the first element (e.g. jump or stop) to be performed
4. The team member performing the element will step forward and execute the skill, with the element first being performed by the skater on team one, then team two, then team three and so on
5. Once all the teams have had their skaters complete the element, the next element will be called
6. Judging is done with one mark for each element (skater) for total team points

Required elements by level

What level will I be in?

Skaters will join the team that aligns with the level(s) that they have passed.

  • Skaters who have passed Snowplow 1-4 and/or Basic 1 but no higher than Basic 4 will participate on the SP-B3 team, and Skaters who have passed Basic 4 but no higher than Pre-Freeskate will participate on the B4-6 team.

  • Skaters must have passed Pre-Freeskate and compete individually in Aspire 1-4 to participate in the Aspire 1-4 level.

Please make sure that your skater can perform every element in their level before indicating interest.

Who can join?

All skaters wishing to participate must:

  • Be a Forestwood member in some capacity (Learn to Skate, Associate Member, Home Club Member)

  • Have a private coach for the duration of their participation on the team.

  • Also be competing individually at the competition the team will be competing at.

  • Be able to perform every element in the element list.

  • Email with their interest to join the team.

    • Email support@forestwoodskatingclub.com , and include your skater's name, level, and private coach. Also indicate whether they will be competing at the competition listed (Currently accepting interests for skaters who will be at Autumn Skills).

More Details

Screenshot 2025-01-26 at 11.27.44 AM.png
  • All costs (competition fees, coach fees, team building day, assigned accessories) will be covered by Forestwood.

  • We are hoping to offer Team Compulsory spiritwear to purchase.

  • Skaters must be able to perform under pressure and understand which element they are asked to perform without a coach or outside help.

  • $50 Cancel/No-Show/Dropout fee if skaters cancel, no-show, or drop out for any reason after accepting their team placement and team element.

  • We strongly encourage skaters to wear a Forestwood club jacket while competing.

Looking ahead...

  • Skaters who were on a team compulsory team with Forestwood last year do not need to try out again UNLESS they wish to join a higher level bracket (i.e. Basic 4-6 team to Aspire 1-4 team.)

  • Skaters new to Forestwood's Team Compulsory or who are in a higher level this season will be contacted to have their skills verified by a Team Compulsory Coach. Skaters must be able to perform all elements in the competition list (see above).

  • Provided that athletes can perform the elements required, skaters will be randomly chosen for a team and assigned an element. (Skaters will not choose their element.) The drawing will be Tues., Sept. 30 @ 4:45pm.

  • Skaters will likely be rotated throughout the season to give every skater the opportunity to represent Forestwood.
